Local Restaurant Review

With the talk of the new Italian Restaurant coming into town I thought it would be fun to rank our current ones. Since everyone’s taste’s are different I had a few friends over and we averaged out the scores.

Here’s how it broke down…………

We rated all of the restaurants’ based on the following.

Food/Menu: 3/8 of the total score. If food sucks you won’t come back.

Service: ¼ of the total score. Important? Yes. Who want’s to sit down and wait an hour before your server even asks you what you’d like to drink?

Atmosphere: ¼ of the total score. Also a reason why we all go out to eat. No one wants to sit and eat in filth.

Clientele: 1/8 of the total score. Do you like to hang out there? Can you take your Kids, your Wife, your Mom?

Without further ado…the Results:

1. Country Club – 47.12%
2. Alberricis – 46.24%
3. Night Owl – 42.16%
4. China Wok – 41.2%
5. Romanos – 40.8%
6. Green Forest II – 40.56%
7. Pete’s Inn – 36.8%
8. Village Square – 34.08%
9. Spinner’s – 21%

The Country Club came out on top based on atmosphere, service and clientele. Their food ran in the middle of the pack based on a couple overdone steaks and a bad fish fry.

Alberricis came in this high based on their food alone. The meats cheeses and salads are phenomenal. Hard to rate on service as it’s really not a sit down eatery but it can be done.

The Night Owl came in 2nd on food and clientele. It lost out big on atmosphere but should make a big comeback after the remodel.

China Wok your typical Chinese food period. Nothing great, nothing bad. We all thought highly of the $5.25 lunch buffet.

Romano’s got killed in the food category (the sauce is terrible from the pizza to the pasta) but ended up in fifth based on the family friendly atmosphere and their service.

Green Forest II Best breakfast in town. Good lunch specials too. Lost out on sometimes unfriendly service.

Pete’s Inn Good bar food and decent service, lost out big in the other two categories. This is a drinking crowd.

Village Square None of us were a big fan of the food or service. Unlike the Green Forest II on a busy morning you better bring some entertainment for the kids as the food is slow coming.

Spinners We took the clientele out of the equation but it ranked last in every other category. Their food is terribly inconsistent and one panel member wondered how they stay open.

How would you rank them?

Vote Carefully

ORIGINAL VERSION:

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long.

He foregoes little extras and other luxuries and keeps to task.
The Ant continues builds his house and relentless collects supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool.

The Grasshopper laughs. And dances. And wastes whatever supplies it has.

The Grasshopper simply plays the summer away.

Come winter the Ant continues to work hard and is warm and well fed.

The Grasshopper made no plans and has no food or shelter.

So he dies out in the cold.

The End.

MODERN VERSION:

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long.

He foregoes little extras and other luxuries and keeps to task.
The Ant continues builds his house and relentless collects supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool.

The Grasshopper laughs. And dances. And wastes whatever supplies it has.

The Grasshopper simply plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering Grasshopper calls a press conference.

The Grasshopper demands to know why the Ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed.

While Grasshopper and others are cold and starving.

NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, CNN and countless other media attend the press conference.

They roll miles of film and take countless pictures of the Grasshopper.

They do this in peaceful neighborhood, in front of the Ant’s warm and comfortable home.

Through the window they see the Ant eating at table filled with food.

Americans are stunned by this sharp contrast.

They listen intently to the media.

The media repeats many of the same questions over and over.

How?

How can this be?

In a country of such wealth that this poor Grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the Grasshopper.
And everybody cries when they sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green."

Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the Ant's house.

The media again amasses and films the many protesters as they sing, "We shall Overcome."

The agitated and angry group holds up many protest signs.

They are shown in the national media as heroes as they shout messages of hate toward the Ant.

Jesse has the group kneel down to pray to God for the Grasshopper's' sake.

Not wanting to be left out of the spotlight Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry join in.

They exclaim in interviews the Ant has gotten rich off the back of the Grasshopper.
They call for an immediate tax hike on the Ant so there is more money to give to the Grasshopper.

They say everyone should have to pay their Fair Share.

Now the ACLU and the EEOC join forces.

Their lobbyists wine and dine many politicians.

The outcome being new policy is drafted called The Economic Equity and Anti-Ant Act.

It is made retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The Ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of Grasshoppers and other bugs of color.

The Ant tries to argue.

The Ant cites factual examples that it did nothing wrong.

The Ant’s argument fails against the ever growing geo-political onslaught.

The Ant exhausts most of its recourses in this failed cause.

The Ant now has nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes.

The Government confiscates the Ant’s home.

Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the Grasshopper in a defamation suit against the Ant.

The media listens to Hillary as she argues the case is not about facts.

It is about the plight of the Grasshopper and all other bugs of color.

Before the case goes to trial it is ‘tried’ over the media in words and pictures favoring the Grasshopper.

When the case is finally heard, it is heard before a panel of federal judges appointed by special advocate Bill Clinton.

The Ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the Grasshopper now living in the Ant’s former home.

The Grasshopper’s friends and family are eagerly finishing up the last of the food the Ant worked so hard to gather.

All the while his new government house crumbles all from poor maintenance.

By now the Ant has disappeared somewhere into oblivion.

Later the Grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house.

The once proud home is now abandoned and is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful
neighborhood.

The End.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote.

New Restaraunt in Town.

The old Mexican Restaurant has a new owner and will apparently be changing it into an Italian Joint.

A few questions.

1) Can or will Evansville really support another restaurant?

2) Do we really need another "Italian" restaurant in town?

3) What kind of eatery do you think Evansville want's or need's?

I will have a breakdown of our current eating establishments in a later post.

Conspiracy or Coincidence?

Plan Commission meets on Shoreline Zoning. Lake WestField Meadows follows days later.

Hmmmmmmm.

Thought I'd throw this out there as the discussion seems to be getting a little heated.

Any Takers?

New Face on the City Council

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Barb Jacobson to the City Council as a representative of the first district. In case you don't remember Barb ran against outgoing Alder Bill Hammann 2 years ago tied him in the general election then lost in a coin flip down at city hall.

I have had the opportunity to see Barb in action as a member of both the Police Commission(which she will have to step down from as it is a citizens only board) and the Park Board. She asks tough questions and stands up for her constituents. She will be conservative with our tax dollars and bring some fresh air into the City Council as did Alder Braunschweig and Alder Jeurgens a year ago.

It will be interesting to see the new makeups of our City's boards and should be a Council meeting to attend. You know what I mean if you were there a year ago.

I would also like to thank Bill Hammann for his years of service to our community. Bill did a great job during the largest growth period of our community's history.

Congratulations Barb!

Stay tuned to Evansville,Wisconsin "My Take Your Comments". Beer, Bait, Ammo, Sports and some occasional Madonna Marketing. Just My Take Your Comments. Where the stories are anything but "Normal"

Free Sgt. Bill????????

Anyone seen this?

GQ has an article on our ex seargent.

While they call him Fritters which (I find hilarious) the author has a totally different take than I have heard before.

Check it out.

Remember Spring Break? Just a little trip down memory lane.

The Wet T shirt contest

I bet her parents would be proud.

The Hotties.

There was always this guy. You know the one that couldn't hold his liquor but did 15 beer bongs anyway.

The chick click you'll never get any from.

Possibilities.

School Board Election Results Where were the voters?

What a lousy turn out. Only 591 voters total in the City of Evansville. Did Spring Break make that much of a difference? The low city turnout cost my favorite School Board candidate (Woulfe) a seat.

Here's the Breakdown of how the City voted. (note: the rest of the school district is not included in this tally)

Herbers 288
Woulfe 304
Lahti 171
Hammann 320

With these results both of my candidate's win. Instead we end up with the weakest of the 4 and one whom I believe has a conflict of interest as his wife is a teacher in the district. Thank God Melissa got in. Hopefully between she and Art we will see some common sense out of this board and keep Carvin in check. We must also not forget that The Observer will be there with recorder in hand to keep them ALL in check.

You'll get 'em next time Richard and Congratulations to Melissa.

Lake Westfield Meadows?

In case you haven't seen the video click here. A lot of water yes. A catastrophe no. When I moved to Evansville I looked at two houses near retention ponds one in the area seen on the video and another directly in front of the very large one on the North side of Porter Rd.

Great lots great houses except............ They are near retention ponds and I have young children so I moved up the hill. You can't tell me the people who bought these houses did not realize what they were buying. Pretty obvious a big hole with a drainage ditch running to it.

While I can understand the frustration the talk of the City paying to fix it is ridiculous(next you'll be complaining about taxes) . It's like building a house next to the Interstate and asking the City to pay for a sound barrier because it's too loud.

You built the house now live in it.

Name this Blog No More

Notice the name has been changed to better reflect the direction of this blog. It's not set in stone I just figured it was better than the old.

Thoughts?????

AWOL No more

Yes I have been AWOL. Sometimes the day to day activities of real life take precedence.

I am now back with a vengence. There is again alot going on in our community.

The school board election results.
Welcoming Barb Jacobson to the City Council barring a write in campaign.
The flooding of Westfiield Meadows.
The Downtown Constuction.

and........ finally the naming of my site.

Stay Tuned for more this evening.
