What a lousy turn out. Only 591 voters total in the City of Evansville. Did Spring Break make that much of a difference? The low city turnout cost my favorite School Board candidate (Woulfe) a seat.
Here's the Breakdown of how the City voted. (note: the rest of the school district is not included in this tally)
Herbers 288
Woulfe 304
Lahti 171
Hammann 320
With these results both of my candidate's win. Instead we end up with the weakest of the 4 and one whom I believe has a conflict of interest as his wife is a teacher in the district. Thank God Melissa got in. Hopefully between she and Art we will see some common sense out of this board and keep Carvin in check. We must also not forget that The Observer will be there with recorder in hand to keep them ALL in check.
You'll get 'em next time Richard and Congratulations to Melissa.

I am curious Jeff, did you hear about how Herbers went about getting all of these votes? This is not a trivia question. I am just curious as I do know what he had his groupies did. I guess when people are desperate the things they do. We will be watching Jeff to see if he just becomes a puppet, or if he will show us he has a mind of his own. Maybe he will surprise us. I strongly encouraged Mr.Woulfe to run again as he has alot to offer. I think he will.
Well, please fill us in. I just know I saw some late signs and 2 ads in the Review.
I am still in shock I really thought it would be both Hammann & Woulfe.
What they did is apparently from what I was told by someone who received a phone call from this machine, is Roger Berg has a machine that makes the auto calls, like what you normally would get from a PRESIDENTIAL candidate. The last two days before the election they put that thing in use and away they went. I was surprised because Jeff had no CAMPAIGN, he did nothing to deserve to be elected. It was all name recognition, and votes from school employees and family's. We know HEIDI CARVIN was scared of having him on the school board, not that he would do anything except for think for himself, not just rubber stamp her thoughts. She was very worried from the people I talked to at the school, they never came out and said ' Heidi says this' but they implied it. Heidi could not have handled having both independent thinkers on the school board. Hopefully Art and Melissa will make some changes. I think he will run again, he saved my sign I had in the yard. He has alto to offer. He believes in supporting the teachers and watching out for the tax payers. It is possible to do both. How ever Heidi only wants to spend, spend, spend.. I am sure as well there is going to be continued participation at the school board meetings. Mr.Woulfe and Melissa have both done a excellent job of making sure the citizens know what is going on. But what Jeff did in terms of all those phone calls and how they made those phone calls, he did not think of that on his own. That idea I think originated with Heidi, in desperation. So when I was wearing tread off my sneakers, they are making auto calls. NICE. Like I said he did nothing to deserve to be elected. I get the feeling it will show.
Grumps posted 6 houses effected (over at the Observer) which would be 6 of 9 on the Westside of 6th between Abey and Vision. As far as I know the newer culdesac was not affected (south of Abey), but I didn't walk down there in the a.m. I didn't look at the house at 6th and Vision either but I would imagine water was in the vicinity of it's foundation. I was shocked a builder put a spec house on that lot, I was even more surprised someone bought it.
Does Berg have ties to Heidi or Herbers or does he have some land he wants to sell the school for a new middle school, etc? I am not seeing the connection, but I am sure there is one. I wish Dick would have won, but I am glad that Melissa did get a seat.
Mr.Berg's wife works for the school district for starters. I know the school wants to build some sort of project house, I am not sure who owns the land where they want to put it.
I do believe the project house that are planning on building is suppose to be build in that swamp area, someone tried to warn heidi at that meeting and she just got mad. Because as she wants us all to know, she knows it all.
Roger Berg owns the land where they want to put the project house. I smell a rat.
I think it's the ol' American Idol syndrome. You don't need to be the best candidate or even qualified, you simply need the most votes. Just ask Sanjaya!
Even though he had no campaign, lots of people know him and like him. To hell with his conflicts of interest and his (arguably) inability to vote on many issues, he's a nice guy!
I think so to that name recognition played a big part here. Which is to bad, because people really dont' have a good idea of where he stands on issues because he never really put any effort into a campaign. We will be watching him though, lots of people will. He will have to be some what careful.
I know exactly where he stands right next to Heidi, going yes ma'am.
He is a great guy. If the q was who is the most popular guy or the nicest or the most people person, he'd prob win.
But is he really going to ever vote no and make Heidi mad at him? No way.
Heidi Carvin has to go, she is evil
On that we can agree
Herbers wife works for the school, case closed.
I did get an argument (from a teacher) that said he pays taxes just like you. My response was simple, OK let's everyone here pitch in a dollar myself included, now I will dictate how much we will give my wife out of all these dollars. That case was not brought up again.
I think its funny Jeff Herbers commnets after being elected how he would have to get famaliar with how the board runs? Well if he had ever gone to a damn meeting he would not have that problem he would be ready to go. He has not a clue.
