Lake Leota How much is too much?

Just curious.

How much would you be willing to see the City spend on the Lake Leota Dredging Project before you vote no? (Because it WILL go to referendum)

For those of you not familiar with the issue click here.

Personally, I would vote no on anything over 1 million.

Everyone has got a number. What's yours?

THE ROCK needs the lake. WHy say you? You watch your mouth, nobody questions THE ROCK.

THE ROCK needs the lake in order to bathe his gigantic guns. THE ROCK simply cannot fit his mighty guns in THE ROCK's shower. Bring back the lake so THE ROCK can smell good for all of his ladies.

CAn you smelalalalalalalala---What THE ROCK----is cookin'?

When we questioned Fred J. almost 6
months ago the figure was at around 2.5 MILLION. I think anyone who owns a older house or works construction knows you always run into something you did not expect.

Now the 2.5 was just for what they have to get done yet. How much do you think they have already spent?

Some one put it best the other day when they said, its more of a mud hole, and turnining into a money pit.

I would request if the 'the Rock' is going to bathe in the lake he do it towards the back of the lake behind the big tall .. oh forget it just don't bath at the lake no one cares to see ' your guns' and besides that what if you have a leach attach it self to some where you don't care to have it?

I would really like to see it done as it is quite an eyesore. Definitely not at 2.5 million dollars.

This is going to divide the city. Pitting the old against the new. I can't believe this would pass a referendum at that cost.

I question why S.O.L.E. has not done more in the area of fund raising. Hold a softball tournament , a "Save the Lake" festival, Sell brats in front of the Piggly Wiggly. Whatever they can to help offset the cost.

The only thing the 'sole' committee has done in the last few years is spend money.

I can't even begin to tell you how much has been spent on estimates and opinions. Its alot. This is just from following the park board minutes.

Its almost like they don't like what one report tells them , so they pay for another one.

The sole committee has no money. When they need money they come to the park board. When the park board does not have the money they go to the city council. Who gives it to them.

Not what to spend more than 1mill. on the lake Jeff? What do you think about the west side park? They have spent just over 1 mill on that.

The only good thing I have to say about that is at least when its done it should be just general maintence. Unlike the lake if it proceeds will once again have to be re-dredged in twenty years. This they know.

The last anon,

A million dollars on the West side Park? Where did you get that number?
All I can remember being spent the money for the soccer fields and the lawn mower.

I went to the last SOLE meeting as the engineer was showing off the new plan. According to him they were going to be able to take out 80,000 cubic yards of silt instead of the original 200,000 cubic yards obviously at a lower cost.

I will be interested in hearing the final numbers when they come in.

I go to the park board meetings quite often, and follow the minutes when I can't. It hit the million dollar mark some time ago.

The only good part of it is I think for the most part they are done.
