She's Kidding Right??????????

To quote a good friend of mine........... I'm calling SHENANIGANS!!!!!!!

Now she wants to vote on large projects that effect the city (click here for the post). I wish chasin hadn't deleted her old posts when she went off line for those few days. I do know that she was very much against the 5 million dollar advisory referendum. Now that Lake Geneva defeated a new development she'd like to vote on large projects the city may be considering.

Freaking Incredible.

We should give the developers of the Mirbeau-Hummel plan a call. Sounds like a hell of a plan to me.

Evansville Getting Cable Alternative

Although no date has been established at&t will be offering an alternative to Charter and Satellite providers in Evansville and near by communities. Click here for the article from the Gazette.

Competition is welcome but there is a particular concern. The "boxes" being installed take up an area 8 foot by10 foot. Click here for a picture. I understand right of ways but I can't imagine anyone wanting to look at one of these in their yard. I hope our City Council will take the same steps Janesville has to lessen the impact of the cabinets.

Evansville Booming?

You wouldn't believe it if you listened to some but think about this...........

Evansville Health Club: Opened in October and has already had to expand. Smaller than some in Madison or Janesville? Yes, they do however offer all the same equipment at a better price with 24 hour access.

Evansville Furniture: Nice to have something like this in town. Wish they would have went in at the old Dollar Store. Looking forward to checking them out.

The New Liquor Store: Looking forward to a nice wine selection and some more micro brews.

Surf 4 Ink: Office Supply Store. I'll bet there are some happy business people in town. Nice not to have to drive to Janesville or Madison for some simple supplies.

The Cobblestone Inn: Our first Hotel. Man, it's going up quick.

Tanglewood Tavern: Here's something Evansville really needed a banquet facility. This goes well with the hotel. We can keep some of the wedding business in town. Nothing wrong with another place to have a beer and dinner either.

Not to mention the expanding nursing home, the crushing facility and the still possible bio-diesel plant.

While I think we'd all like to see some more activity downtown these are all positives for our community. All fill some needs and most will provide good to decent jobs.

Seems we are doing a pretty good job of attracting new business.

What would you like to see more of in Evansville? Retail? Specialty? Services?

Stop the War, Beat a Cripple

Got to love these peace loving libs.

From the New York Post.

POLICE: BUSH BASHER SMASHES DISABLED TEEN

A man heckling First Lady Laura Bush and daughter Jenna outside the 92nd Street Y was arrested after he punched a wheelchair-bound girl whose parents has told him to shut up, authorities said yesterday. German Talis, 22, was shouting obscenities at the Bushes, who were leaving the building Tuesday, when he crossed paths with Wendy and John Lovetro and their daughter Maureen, 18, who has cerebral palsy.

“He began yelling about Iraq and Iran at Jenna Bush. She was waving at the crowd. I told the guy, ‘What are you doing? Shut up. This is about a child and books,’ ” said John Lovetro. “He was unperturbed. I said, ‘Get out of here! You’re being a moron!’ “

The next thing he knew, Talis was allegedly punching Maureen - a fan of the first lady since meeting her in 2004.

“I heard my daughter hysterical yelling, ‘He’s hitting me!’ ” said Wendy Lovetro.

“He punched her on the shoulder blades, but that wasn’t enough,” she said.

“He punched her on the shoulder blades, but that wasn’t enough,” she said.

“My husband pushed the wheelchair away from him and he reached beyond my husband and began pounding my daughter in the thigh.”

The two men fought as the president’s family drove off. Cops broke them up and busted Talis on charges of assault and resisting arrest.

Maureen was not seriously injured.

Did You Catch the Real Coffee Ad ?

If not it read like this...........

This will be the final advertising dollar we will spend at the Review, until apologies to Mary Weigand are published prominently, a clear editorial page is established and there is a demonstrated commitment to unbiased reporting. We are tired of the homophobia and shoddy journalism.

You've got to hand it to them. They are standing up for what they believe in. I'm guessing Kelly or Tammy won't be getting any free coffee any time soon.

This Chicks a WINNER!

Click here for the Gazette article. This girl is one bad egg. Keep her locked up and out of Evansville.

This is NOT PC but it is Funny!

Remember, It's "My Take, Your Comments"

Am I a bully? I guess that depends on whom you talk to. Personally I could give a shit either way. My entire reasoning for starting this blog was to drum up conversations on any variety of topics. Whether you agree with my take or not this blog as been pretty successful at that. It would be much easier to copy and paste articles from other news sources and make a one sentence comment but that's not what this site is about.

Do I pick on Chasin sometimes? Absolutely! If you have an opinion and put it out there for the world to see you have to expect someone is going to disagree. I also take shots at the School Board, The City Council, Candidates for office, S.O.L.E (They are too easy to pick on) and anything else that may spark an intelligent or otherwise conversation.

As for Chasin taking me off of her links. SO WHAT! I really don't need to be associated with a MoveOn.org, won't take any personal responsibility I just complain and blame everyone else for my problems, jumping to conclusions, Crappy Insurance selling Blog.

As for Child's Wish....... Here is an idea. Quit being so cheap and send your children to a Day Care Facility. There they have more than one provider. They have checks and balances. They have structure.

Oh and Frank from the Gazette, EVERYONE in allowed an opinion on my site.

It's Official. We are getting theCrushing Plant

Here's the story from the Gazette. Thanks to all of the people who worked so hard to bring this facility to Evansville.

Maybe this will shut up some of the haters for a while. Or........... Maybe they would have liked to see this downtown.

Election Results

Another low turn out for our spring elections. I don't think people realize the importance of local elections. You shouldn't bitch if you don't vote but those who don't vote are usually the most vocal about property taxes and how the money is being spent. Anyway here's my take on the election...........

I was happy to see Tony beat Karen as she did nothing to deserve a seat on the City Council. As for Chasin's take on that I'll have a post on that later.

Is Janice's political career outside the city limits over? I thought she might get the Rock Co. gig but wasn't too surprised as Art is well respected in our community.

All the rest were incumbents this always surprises me as people sure like to bitch but are not willing to put their necks on the line.

The Frankenstein veto was voted down. Smart move regardless of which party is on office.

The Supreme Court race was a joke.

Again as for Chasin's take I have an entire post for that and for some of the other nonsense she's been spewing lately.

School Board Race: More of the Same??????

Anyone happen to see Kathi Swanson's ad in the Review? Here's the part I like..........
"I will continue the fine work our board has done in supporting our students, teachers and community"

So is she saying she will just continue as the board has been? Are you shitting me? Who runs on more of the same? Why in the hell would we vote for you when we can just leave it as is? If she's not clever enough to come up with something better than that I don't want her making decisions regarding my taxes and our children's education.

Hey Dick, You have any of those signs left????? I'm officially starting a write-in campaign for you.

Write-in Richard Woulfe for School Board.

Lake Leota: Should We Fill it Back Up?

Some neighbors of our favorite lake are asking to have it filled back up. Hell yes.

SOLE sure messed this one up. How many years have we been looking at that weed ridden pit now? It will look a whole lot better and the referendum is not going to pass anyway. (in my humble opinion)

If you get a chance stop by a SOLE meeting if your into the whole Laurel & Hardy / Abbott and Costello routine. This bunch of clowns couldn't gather enough brain power to put a kiddie pool in my back yard.

Thoughts?????

Hey Karen, Where have you been?

Maybe it's me but if I were trying to reclaim my seat on the City Council I'd attend a meeting or two BEFORE the election. We'll probably hear how she's been on the council before blah, blah, blah. We are in the here and now. There are new faces on the council, new issues that need to be dealt with. This is NOT two years ago.

Has anyone seen or heard anything as to where Mrs. Aikman stands???? Yeah me neither.

A Letter from Barack Obama

The worst Wisconsin attack on home owners that you have never heard of.

Thanks to Real Debate Wisconsin for this post. Incredible how something like this can just slip by the mainstream media. I saw nothing in the paper or the local news.

March 3, 2008

The worst Wisconsin attack on home owners that you have never heard of.

There is a bill sitting on Governor Doyle's desk awaiting signature that you have likely never heard of, 2007 AB 580.

Here is what it does.

Under current law if you disagree with your property tax assessment you have the right to a hearing in front of a local board on that issue. If you disagree with the ruling of that board you have the right to appeal to the Circuit Court.

Under the current situation people had a nasty habit of winning those appeals at the Circuit Court level. Well, the assessors got together and lobbied the legislature for changes to the current system and AB 580 was passed by a vote of 94 to 3 in the Assembly and 32 to 1 in the Senate.

Huge kudos to Senator Lazich, and Assemblymen Schneider and Albers for voting no on this (Gundrum and A.Williams no-voted the bill). Every other member of the Assembly and Senate voted in favor of the assessors and against home owners. You were probably asleep as this was one of those 12:46 am passed in the middle of the night laws that everyone misses.

And now the bad news...

Under AB 580 the review board must now grant a 60-day extension to the tax payers objection. The board also gets to assess a new snappy $100 fee to that rabble rousing tax payer (assuming the municipality allows the extension). A hundred bucks for disagreeing with the assessor, isn't that special!

Under the new bill the court is forced to make the assumption that the valuation by the assessor is correct.

You read that correctly, the court is forced by AB 580 to assume the assessor is correct. So much for the opportunity for a fair hearing in the Circuit Court. Our state government has legislated that the court favor the assessor.

The court finding may be "rebutted by a sufficient showing by the taxpayer that the valuation is
incorrect."

In short you do not go into court on an equal playing field, the assessment is assumed correct. So much for your fair day in court.

This is a terrible bill, read the details for yourself here. Perhaps one of you legal eagles can pull more out of this than I have shown.

Ask yourselves why you have never heard of this before?

Are assessments always fair? Should they be presumed to be correct?

Check out this story. An assessor in West Virginia increases the assessment on a property by a 1,531% increase after the owner refused to sell said property to the assessor.

Remember our report about my Racine assessment going up $10,000 year over year in a down market? That assessment had no basis in fact to the actual market.

Assessors are under huge pressure to increase property valuations so communities can draw in more tax revenue from those properties. Home owners always had their day in court. If the Governor signs this bill those home owners will enter any court appeal (after having paid a $100 fine) with the presumption that they are wrong hanging around their neck as a direct edict from the Wisconsin Legislature.

Democrats and Republicans banded together to pass this bad legislation.

Our only hope to stop this is the veto pen of Governor Jim Doyle. I encourage you to reach out to the Governor and ask him to please veto AB 580.

New Pub and Grill???????

Take a look at the agenda for Plan Commission tonight. What we've all been waiting for a new business and a new place to eat. But wait................

Looks like the neighbors around the proposed eatery (in the same building as the new gym) have started a petition against the proposed restaurant. Everyone wants their cake and to eat it too.

People complain about the lack of business and places to eat yet here we go again with the not in my back yard bullshit.

Here's the deal the deal people. WE NEED BUSINESS. I have already called my alder and voiced my support. I suggest you do the same.

Obama

Well I did it for the first time ever I voted for a Democrat. Before you libs jump up and down let me explain...........

I was talking to a friend and he made a great point that turned me this way. There has been a Bush or Clinton in the White house in some capacity since 1980. That being said Wisconsin has not voted Republican since Reagan's second term. So in essence I voted against Hillary not for Obama. Yet................

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Did you vote?

I have not but will as soon as I get back into town. Still not sure which way I'm going. I'll post that tonight.

Get out there! Make your voices heard.

Tax Rebate is Coming Tax Rebate is Coming

This is different than the last click here for an explanation. (See Chasin I wasn't wrong)

What will you do with the money? Pay bills? Buy a Flat Screen? Save for a Rainy day?

Me? I'm going to spend it on a big tax payer funded Beer party with midgets, a band and strippers for entertainment.

I love midgets.

Goodbye Lake Leota?

Yes, it would be nice to have the lake back but not at this price. How is SOLE going to spin this one? They have done nothing in regards to raising money for this project and are going to expect the taxpayers to pick up the tab.

I am sure there will be talk about all of the memories Lake Leota has brought to many Evansville citizens. The picnics, the first kiss, fishing, the fourth of July, blah, blah, blah. I have memories too. Mine however revert back to the time when I actually had some disposable income to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

There comes a point when you just have to say no and we have hit that point. The lake is not a need like the sewage plant, the new fire station and yes eventually the library. The only people truly affected by the lake are the land owners immediately surrounding it. No one moved to Evansville to hang out by Lake Leota.

Barring an enormous fund raising effort or grant(unlikely) bringing the cost to the city to under one million dollars I will vote no and encourage others to vote with me. I ask that the council set up the referendum(it will be non binding) during the November elections when the voters will be out in force for the '08 Presidential Election.

This is just getting interesting folks.

Any District 3 Readers?

Not a real fun local election this time around. Only one race Aikman vs Wyse. What's your take District 3? What's Karen running on? What would be different if she were there instead of Tony?

I myself liked the new faces on the council. New ideas, opinions and just a breath of fresh air. If it works out for Karen we'll have two "old" council members back in action.(Assuming Janice wins)

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. Where do these two sit on the current issues? Mainly Lake Leota. We also have the Library, Sewage Treatment Plant, new Fire House etc....

Karen, Janice if you are out there let us know. I'd be happy to post it.

Minimum Mark up Law in Trouble?

It's about time. This law is outdated and artificially raises gas prices in Wisconsin.

Can the Democrats Win the White House?

Slammer's Mom left me a comment and it got me thinking. Can the Dems really win?

Is our country ready for a women president? Is the south ready for a black president?

I think the bigger issue is it looks like McCain is going to get the GOP nomination and he is almost as liberal as those two.

Not sure even after all the "terrible" Bush years if the Dems can pull this off. Let us not forget the
congressional approval rating is even lower than the presidents. We could see some big changes there too.

Chasin if Bush lied.......So did the Democrats then

We begin with former President Bill Clinton:

"The hard fact is that so long as Saddam remains in power, he threatens the well-being of his people, the peace of his region, the security of the world. *** The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government -- a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people." - Oval Office Address to the American People, December 16, 1998

In his State of the Union Address on January 27, 1998, President Bill Clinton:

“America is threatened by an ‘unholy axis’”

"We must exercise responsibility not just at home, but around the world. *** Together, we must confront the new hazards of chemical and biological weapons and the outlaw states, terrorists, and organized criminals seeking to acquire them. *** …Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade and much of his nation's wealth not on providing for the Iraqi people but on developing nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them."

Next we hear from Sandy Berger, document thief and President Clinton's National Security Advisor:

"Imagine the consequences if Saddam fails to comply and we fail to act. Saddam will be emboldened, believing the international community has lost its will. He will rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. And some day, some way, I am certain, he will use that arsenal again, as he has ten times since 1983." - Town Hall Meeting on Iraq at Ohio State University, February 18, 1998

Madeleine Albright, President Clinton's Secretary of State:

"Iraq is a long way from Ohio, but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Town Hall Meeting on Iraq at Ohio State University, February 18, 1998

Next we feature statements by two democrat contenders for the presidency:

"Every nation has to either be with us, or against us. Those who harbor terrorists, or who finance them, are going to pay a price." - Senator Hillary Clinton, During an interview on CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, September 13, 2001

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well, effects American security. *** This is a very difficult vote, this is probably the hardest decision I've ever had to make. Any vote that might lead to war should be hard, but I cast it with conviction." - Senator Hillary Clinton, Addressing the US Senate, October 10, 2002

"My position is very clear: The time has come for decisive action to eliminate the threat posed by Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction. I'm a co-sponsor of the bipartisan Resolution that's presently under consideration in the Senate. Saddam Hussein's regime is a grave threat to America and our allies. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons today, that he's used them in the past, and that he's doing everything he can to build more. Every day he gets closer to his long-term goal of nuclear capability. *** Democracy will not spring up by itself overnight in a multi-ethnic, complicated society that's suffered under one repressive regime after another for generations. The Iraqi people deserve and need our help to rebuild their lives and to create a prosperous, thriving, open society. All Iraqis, including Sunnis, Shia and Kurds, deserve to be represented. This is not just a moral imperative. It's a security imperative. It is in America's national interest to help build an Iraq at peace with itself and its neighbors, because a democratic, tolerant and accountable Iraq will be a peaceful regional partner, and such an Iraq could serve as a model for the entire Arab world." - Senator John Edwards, Speech at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, October 7, 2002

I’ll end with this from our former president:

"In the next century, the community of nations may see more and more the very kind of threat Iraq poses now -- a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction ready to use them or provide them to terrorists, drug traffickers or organized criminals who travel the world among us unnoticed. *** If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow by the knowledge that they can act with impunity, even in the face of a clear message from the United Nations Security Council and clear evidence of a weapons of mass destruction program." - President Clinton, Address to Joint Chiefs of Staff and Pentagon staff, February 17, 1998

There are MILLIONS of documents in the archives. I wonder how many statements made by democrats in various interviews, meetings, speeches and memos could be found if someone bothered to do a “study”? I’ll bet the number would exceed that provided by the recent study on the Bush administration. The previous “administration” spent a lot of time in front of the camera and loved hearing the sound of their own voices. Still do.

President Bush and his staff have worked tirelesly to realize the "goal" expressed by President Bill Clinton:

The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government -- a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people.

There is even more if you click here.

Have a great weekend.

Good Luck Art.

Apathy in Evansville?

With the elections coming up on us quickly I thought I'd make a point. This isn't breaking news by any means but it still surprises me.

District 1 Mason Braunschweig Running unopposed

District 2 Janis Ringhand Running unopposed (Fred is not seeking reelection)

District 3 Tony Wyse Incumbent
Karen Aikman

District 4 John Sorenson Running unopposed

Mayor Sandy Decker Running unopposed

We hear so much complaining about the current council and Mayor................
They spend too much money!
How dare they put a bar in my neighborhood.
They are going to push Lake Leota through without a referendum.
The taxes are going to push us out of our homes.

Looking at the fact that only one race has any real meaning. (barring a write in campaign) One would believe that there wouldn't be much to complain about.

But you do............

Where are the complainers from District 4? No one has run against an Alder in your district for years. (Wayne Steinlyn ran but withdrew from the race 2 years ago)

What about District 2? With all the problems you've had this past year I would have thought you'd have someone running from South Sixth St.

District 1? I have not heard a lot of complaining out of this bunch and I personally am happy with my representation.

Now District 3 is where the fun is. You have former Alder and candidate for Mayor Karen Aikman looking to get back in after a 2 year absence. More on this in a later post.

I would love to see all districts in a race. It would bring out more ideas and certainly give us bloggers something to write about.

Why don't more people run? Simple. It's much easier to sit back behind a computer and bitch.
It takes hard work, dedication and thick skin. I think the thick skin part is the hardest for people to take.

I love talking about Skateboarding.

This topic usually gets people fired up.

Let’s talk about skateboarding. Click here for the article in the Janesville Gazette. The City Council is considering banning skateboarding downtown.

Per the article 3 business’ have estimated over $10,000.00 in damages each. Surprise Surprise.

Here’s another quote. “A reduction in skateboarding downtown would mean less property damage and vandalism and a safer environment for pedestrians”, Riggs wrote.

I can’t say I have noticed any damage in our downtown. Maybe someone can tell me different.

I say BAN 'EM.

Wow

That sucked!

Chasin makes a quick return.

Chasin is back and she's talking about me.

Some quick comments about her post.

1.) Yes I know Bill Connors and I have seen him in action as a City Administrator. So I am not taking hits at someone I know nothing about.

2.) Talking "trash"? Why is my opinion trash? I give my opinions understanding they are only my opinions. Remember the name of my site is Evansville Wisconsin My Take Your Comments. This blog will only thrive if there is an on going dialog whether the readers agree or disagree.

3.) I don't think people are entitled to their opinions????? This one really floors me. Anyone has ALWAYS been able to post a comment on this site. Ridiculous or otherwise.

4.) As far as "The Rock" goes, I have no idea. But I do think it is funny. I hope you and the 3 other people who read this blog can find humor in people who post like "The Rock". Why? Because on my site, the haven of free speech in Evansville, "The Rock" and anyone else may comment in what ever manner they see fit.

5.) What has been "Raunchy" on this blog? I just stated my opinions. No naked women or colorful language. Once again I promote free speech this isn't the I'm going to decide who gets to post their opinion blog. (I did take notice that you have removed that from your site. You should receive many more replies because of it.)

I will continue my mission of providing safe harbor for free speech in Evansville.

God Bless America and Go Pack!

Mayor, Council Members to get a raise????

I missed this one but Walton got it. Click here for his post.

I say it's well deserved. Our Mayor and Alders put in a lot of time and next to no return.

Check out Alder Braunschweig's comment.

Lake Leota How much is too much?

Just curious.

How much would you be willing to see the City spend on the Lake Leota Dredging Project before you vote no? (Because it WILL go to referendum)

For those of you not familiar with the issue click here.

Personally, I would vote no on anything over 1 million.

Everyone has got a number. What's yours?

Blackhawk Tech and YOUR tax dollars

$1,000,000.00 here

$100,000.00 there

$2500.00 everywhere

That's just the last 2 days. HOLY SHIT!

A lot of complaints lately about our City and School taxes. What about this?

Take a look at your tax bill a significant portion of your property taxes are going to Blackhawk Tech. I understand the need for higher education but WOW! They can really throw the money around.

I would like to find out how Evansville is represented on the board or if it is at all. We as a city are throwing a lot of money their way. It would be nice to have a say in how it is spent.

Just something to think about until the Lake Leota numbers come in on the 31st. ( that will be fun)

Thanks to the Gazette for the links.

UPDATE:

Just found out Heidi Carvin is our representative on the Blackhawk Board of Regents.

Now it makes sense.

"Former City Administrator" Bill Connors Whines Yet Again

Click here for the post on the Observer. More Blah Blah Blah.

I could start a weekly column.............. Whining by "Former City Administrator" Bill Conn0rs.

Just because the original ordinance was done under your watch doesn't make it right.

Where's Chasin the News????????

This may be a bit premature but click here.

No goodbye?

I would hate to think she's left the building. I read her blog everyday. I may not agree with her on much but I did enjoy her site.

UPDATE:

Looks like the Observer has pulled the link to her blog.

Who know's? I took a year off mabe she'll be back.

"Former City Administrator"Bill Connors whines again

Click here to see the Observer article.

All this guy does is whine. You'd think he created hundreds of jobs and a new thriving business park with his constant rants. Blah, Blah, Blah!

Let's really think about this. I think we can all collectively agree our taxes are high. That being said this is a brilliant ordinance.

The City of Evansville has seen a tremendous amount of growth, mostly in the area of young families. This has caused numerous expenses immediate and in the near future, road repairs, school overcrowding, sewer treatment plant upgrades, water towers and yes the library.

What am I getting at? One word. Retiree's.

Retiree's don't need 1500 sq ft with another 1100 sq ft of finished basement. Retiree's don't have kid's to send to school. Retiree's don't need a large yard with a play set. Retiree's don't need the tax burden of a 1500 sq ft + house. Retiree's don't take showers. (Just seeing if your paying attention).

I propose a 50+ community full of 1200 sq ft houses. I would even give them a break on the school taxes.

You people are so short sighted. Not everyone has 2.6 kids, a dog and a picket fence.

Hey Bill, I do not consider my 1500 sq ft home to be small pretty sure my neighbors don't think theirs are either.

Thank You

I'm Baaaack.

I could not hold my tongue anymore and she won't let me post. Since she will give me plenty to write about and my life has calmed down a bit I am restarting the blog where you can post at will.............

This post is ridiculous.http://www.chasinthenews.blogspot.com/ Did you see your tax bill? Our city council has been frugal with our tax dollars.

You constantly rant on and on about the 5 million being for the Lake Leota IT'S NOT. How many times have people said it needs to go to referendum??????

I think it is high time someone gives these hard working, underpaid, public servants a pat on the back.

You ask when in the last ten years have any jobs been brought in. The current mayor, council president and at least 2 alders have been on the job less than 2 years. Give them some time. Looks like the crushing facility is coming and hopefully the bio diesel plant will still go. Pretty good start if you ask me.

Instead of just complaining why don't you offer up some ideas on how to raise money and or cut the budget. I went through the 2008 budget and I can tell you there was no place to cut.

All we ever hear hear is "not in my backyard" & "not my tax dollars"

When sewage runs through your house, when the west side floods again, when you can't get the soap out of your hair, when a fire truck is slow to respond you will be the first on your high horse complaining the city didn't do enough. The library isn't even on the books yet and the Post Office pays the mortgage. What's the issue there? The Lake is an issue that needs to go to referendum. It would be political suicide to do anything else. I am on the fence on this one and will makemy decision when the costs come out on January 31st

You won't post this because I don't agree with you so I'm going to see if Gina will.

I can't wait for your post from the meeting tonight.
